BOSTON - A panel of Massachusetts Appeals Court justices on Aug. 12 reversed a judgment for the defendant in an auto accident case, concluding that it was an error for the trial court to allow a police officer to testify about the condition of the plaintiff's tires (Wyatt Peterson v. Catherine Foley, No. 09-P-990, Mass. App.; 2010 Mass. App. LEXIS 1066).

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - In a 2-1 decision reached Aug. 9, a California appeals panel reinstated a jury award for past medical expenses to a man injured in an auto accident, concluding that the trial court erred by reducing the amount to the total paid by his private health insurance (Michael King v. AKRON, Ohio - In a 2-1 decision reached Aug. 9, an Ohio appeals panel granted partial summary judgment to a municipality named as the defendant in a fatal auto accident case, agreeing that the defendant was not required to place a guardrail at the crash site (Raymond Sanderbeck, et al. v.
